Life’s Pathway

Sometimes the path He chose for me
Has led through pleasant ways,
Through peaceful valleys, quiet streams,
With warm and sunny days.
Sometimes the climb is steep and rough
With darkness overhead,
With chilling winds and falling stones,
But still the path I tread.
I know this path was planned for me
According to His will,
I’ve trusted Him throughout the past
And I will trust Him still.
And some day He’ll reveal to me
The wisdom of His choice,
Then I’ll know why this path was best
And praise Him, and rejoice.
-Ruth Evangeline MacGregor

Peace and Calm In The 23rd Psalm

With the LORD as "your shepherd"
you have all that you need.
If you "follow in His footsteps"
wherever HE may lead,
HE will guide and guard and keep you
in HIS loving, watchful care
And when traveling in "dark valleys,"
YOUR SHEPHERD will be there!
HIS goodness is unfailing,
HIS kindness knows no end,
For the LORD is a GOOD SHEPHERD
on Whom you can depend!
So when your heart is troubled,
you'll find quiet, peace and calm
When you open up your Bible
and just read this treasured Psalm.
-Author Unknown

FAITHFUL

All around the world does tempt me.
Oh how luring it can be!
And now with open eyes I see,
That I serve God unfaithfully.

I try to serve with all my heart,
But somehow plans just fall apart.
I love my Lord! I really do,
But sometimes I become untrue.

Unlike my God who loves me so,
Who never fails to fight my foe.
Who’s always there in times of need,
And supports my every righteous deed.

He’s there to catch me when I fall
to darkness. Then I hear him call
my name with love, care, and peace.
He helps me rise off of my knees.

I want to be more like my friend!
I wish to give my all to him.
All of the time now this I plea,
“May Christ’s will be done in me!”

By Nathan Smith

FAITH

Faith will hold when the way is dark,
‘Mid the gloom of gathering storm;
Faith will press toward the distant mark,
Though beaten and battered and torn.

Faith will pierce our blackest night,
When fogs of doubt close ‘round;
Faith will shed her rays of light,
When the trials of life abound.

Faith sees a way when the heart is sore,
Too sore for praise and prayer;
Faith trudges on-and what is more,
Faith will triumph over care!

Faith will calm the trembling hand,
And steady the faltering feet;
Faith will cause the weak to stand-
In Christ forever complete!

By R. Prince (Bob) Payne

Trust and Wait

Just wait upon the Lord and you will know
The reason for the way you suffered so;
He only seeks your faith in Him to prove
And teach you more about His wondrous love.

Then trust in God no matter what befall,
And ev’ry day upon the Saviour call;
Believe His Word and you will surely see
That He is all He promised He would be.

Your darkest night will someday pass away
If you but put your trust in Him and pray;
He promised He would see you safely through,
And ev’ry promise in His Word is true.

So wait upon the Lord, be not afraid,
For He Himself will be your Strength and Aid;
Just rest in Him, your never-failing Friend,
And peace and joy will all your way attend.
 -Oswald J. Smith

TRUST

When all seems lost, and the future dim,
The Lord will help, just turn to Him;
When dreams are gone, and you can’t cope,
God’s endless love will give you hope.
He knows your needs, He’ll show the way
To meet your problems day by day;
His strength and help will be with you,
Just let Him in, His light shine through.
Trust in God, He’s always there
To hold you in His loving care.

-Ruth Moyer Gilmour

TRUST GOD

HOW GENTLE GOD’S COMMANDS!
HOW KIND HIS PRECEPTS ARE!
COME, CAST YOUR BURDENS ON THE LORD.
AND TRUST HIS CONSTANT CARE.

BENEATH HIS WATCHFUL EYE
HIS SAINTS SECURELY DWELL;
THAT HAND WHICH BEARS ALL NATURE UP
SHALL GUARD HIS CHILDREN WELL

WHY SHOULD THIS ANXIOUS LOAD
PRESS DOWN YOUR WEARY MIND?
HASTE TO YOUR HEAVENLY FATHER’S THRONE
AND SWEET REFRESHMENT FIND.

HIS GOODNESS STANDS APPROVED,
UNCHANGED FROM DAY TO DAY:
I’LL DROP MY BURDEN AT HIS FEET,
AND BEAR A SONG AWAY.

-PHILIP DODDRIDGE

Trust and Believe and You Will Receive

Whatever our problems, troubles, and sorrows,
If we trust in THE LORD, there’ll be BRIGHTER TOMORROWS,
For there’s nothing too much for THE GREAT GOD to do,
And all that HE asks or expects from you
Is FAITH that’s unshaken by tribulations and tears
That keeps growing stronger along with the years,
Content in the knowledge that GOD knows best
And that trouble and sorrow are only a test-
For without GOD’S testing of our soul
It never would reach its ultimate goal…
So keep on believing, whatever betide you,
Knowing that GOD will be with you to guide you,
And all that HE PROMISED will be yours to receive
If you TRUST HIM COMPLETELY and ALWAYS BELIEVE.

Calvary

Calvary!
In awe I stand beneath that cross
And gaze upon the One-
Full well I know that suff’ring form
Is God’s own precious Son.
Calvary!
In fear I stand beneath that cross!
It’s not mere man I see-
But God! Creator! King and Lord!
Is dying there for me!
Calvary!
In shame I stand beneath that cross!
In shame I hide my face-
For it’s my sin which hung Him there,
He died there in my place.
Calvary!
In love I stand beneath that cross!
While tears unbidden flow-
To think that He-the sinless One
Could love the sinner so.
Calvary!
In peace I stand beneath that cross!
Sin’s burdens roll away-
The cleansing blood has been applied.
God’s peace has come-to stay.

-Geneva Showerman

The Secret of Living

The secret of living
Is learning to pray-
It’s asking our father
For strength for the day!
It’s trusting completely
That His boundless grace
Will overcome care
And each problem we face!
It’s walking by faith
Every mile that we plod,
And knowing our prayers
Bring us closer to God.

The promise

I know that the skies look gray.
The way may look unsure;
But god has each step ordained.
Your future is secure.

Sometimes the greatest trials in life
Become the sweetest blessings;
If we can only keep our faith,
As we endure the testings.

For in his way and in his time
He works things for our good.
Why can we always stand on this?
Because he said he would.
